Martin “Bud” E. Muetzel, age 94, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Ecumen Oaks in Hutchinson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 22, 2026, 11:00 A.M. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at the church.

Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Obituary
Martin “Bud” Edward Muetzel was born on June 14, 1931, in Morton, Minnesota. He was the son of Edwin and Minnie (Kreft) Muetzel. Bud was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at West Lynn Church in Lynn Township, rural Hutchinson. He received his education in Atwater, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Atwater High School Class of 1949.
Bud entered active military service in the United States Air Force on June 29, 1951, in Kandiyohi, Minnesota, and served his country during the Korean War. He was stationed in Alaska. He received an Honorable Discharge on June 28, 1955, at Sewart Air Force Base in Smyrna, Tennessee, and achieved the rank of Airman First Class (A1C).
On July 24, 1952, Bud was united in marriage to Delores Bernardy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with seven children, Arlene, Martin, Monica, Mark, Faye, Bruce, and James. Bud and Delores farmed with their family in Lucan, Minnesota. In 1965, they moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota, where Bud worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement on July 26, 1991. They shared 73 years of marriage.
Bud was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of the Hutchinson American Legion Post #96 and the Hutchinson Knights of Columbus Council #4797.
Bud enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and golfing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
Bud passed away on May 16, 2026, at Ecumen Oaks in Hutchinson at the age of 94 years.

Faye Lomen and her husband, Douglas of Crystal Lake, IL,
Bruce Muetzel and his wife, Amy of Brownton, MN,
James Muetzel and his wife, Darlyn of Hutchinson, MN;
15 Grandchildren;
27 Great-grandchildren;
Sister, Dorothy Hoffman of Eagan, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Bud is preceded in death by his Parents, Edwin and Minnie Muetzel; Sisters, Bernice Olson and her husband, Burton, Ruth Solmonson and her husband, Lloyd; Brother, Arnold Muetzel; and Brother-in-law, Robert Hoffman.
Donations are preferred to the American Heart Association or the Wounded Warriors Project.

I also worked with him. His smile was contagious, along with the mischievous twinkle in his eye. He loved the Spring and the baby chicks that were delivered to the post office
