Obituary
Marvin William Weber was born on July 1, 1947, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of Lester P. and Angeline (Sellner) Weber. Marvin was baptized as an infant at the Church of St. Willibrord’s in Gibbon and was later confirmed in his Catholic faith as a youth. He received his education in Gibbon and was a graduate of the Gibbon High School Class of 1965.
On April 18, 1970, Marvin was united in marriage to Jane Sandquist at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Cornish Township before settling on a farm outside of Lafayette. Marvin and Jane were blessed with two daughters, Shelley and Shannon. They shared 52 years of marriage.
Marvin was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette, where he was an usher and a member of the church council. Anyone who attended the St. Gregory Harvest Festival and enjoyed the delicious mashed potatoes should know that they were a product of his strong hands. After St. Gregory closed, he became a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop.
Marvin loved farming! He found great joy in working the land and his affection for the rhythm of the seasons, from planting to harvest, was well-known. Marvin was famous for his ability to plant straight rows (before GPS!) and he took great pride in his role as a caretaker of the land. When not farming, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing, antique tractors, playing cards, snowmobile and 4-wheeler trips with his wife, Jane, bowling, winter getaways to warm places with his family and cruising the countryside in his Camaro with the top down. Marvin cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Marvin passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the New Ulm Medical Center at the age of 75 years. Blessed be his memory.
