Service Information

Mary Ann Rannow, age 81, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with interment in the church cemetery.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 P.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. Gathering of Family and Friends will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Memorials preferred to an animal shelter of donor’s choice.

Obituary

Mary Ann Rannow was born on July 15, 1941, in Alton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leo and Ceveria (Baune) Ahles. Mary was baptized as an infant at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler, Minnesota. She received her education in Tyler through the tenth grade. Mary Ann then transferred to Hutchinson High School in Hutchinson, Minnesota.

On June 18, 1960, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Donald Rannow at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Mary Ann and Donald made their home in Hutchinson with two children, Susan and Steven. They shared 28 years of marriage until Donald passed away on May 15, 1989.

Mary Ann was employed at 3M for 27 years before retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church.

Mary Ann enjoyed playing bingo, yard work, gardening, and attending tractor pulls. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. They were all very important to her. Mary Ann had a giving heart and a strong love for all animals. She would often donate to the Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter in Hutchinson. Mary Ann had recently adopted a cat, Gloria, from the shelter.

Mary Ann passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, at the age of 81 years.

Children, Susan Kieser and her husband, Dan of Hutchinson, MN,
Steven Rannow of Mankato, MN;
Grandchildren, Joshua Kieser and his wife, Jodi, Crystal Czech and her husband, Brian;
Great Grandchildren, Audrey Kieser, Charles Kieser, Emma Czech, Ethan Czech;
Special Friend, James “Jim” Burmeister of Stewart, MN;
Special Cat, Gloria;
Many other relatives and friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her Parents, Leo and Ceveria Ahles; Husband, Donald “Fuzzy” Rannow; Brother, Carl Ahles; Special Dogs, Chloe and Hannah.

    Ohhh…I’m saddened to see that Mary Ann has passed. I’ve known her for many years. She was such a sweet & positive lady. Her sincere heart & warm smile always made me feel good!! I will miss her kindness & soft taps on my shoulder as she’d go up for communion. Bless her beautiful soul…so sorry for her children’s loss.
