Mavis D. Holmbeck, age 84, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, with interment following at the Glencoe City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Obituary
Mavis Dorothea Holmbeck was born on October 25, 1939, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Dietrich and Dorothea (Engelke) Mackenthun. Mavis was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota. She received her education in Norwood Young America and was a graduate of the Central High School with the class of 1957.
Mavis was blessed with two children; Joyce and Danny.
Mavis was employed at Telex in Glencoe, and after 31 years there she retired in 2004.
Mavis was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Mavis enjoyed puzzles, reading, playing board games, and doing ceramics. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mavis passed away at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the age of 84 years. Blessed be her memory.
Mavis is survived by her
Children, Joyce Compart and her special friend, Troy Olson, of Hutchinson, MN,
Danny Holmbeck of Glencoe, MN, and his significant other, Bing, and their daughter, Jenny of the Philippines;
Grandchildren, Tracy Larson and her husband, Chris, of Glencoe, MN, Sara Swanson and her husband, Jake, of Burnsville, MN, Linda Trnka of Litchfield, MN, James Trnka and his wife, Kiersten, of Hutchinson, MN;
Great-Grandchildren, Silas Zalomsky, Elijah Zalomsky, Scarlett Swanson, Cecilia Trnka, and Baby Swanson on the way;
Other relatives and friends.
Mavis was preceded in death by her Parents, Dietrich and Dorothea Mackenthun; Son-in-law, Kevin Compart.
