Obituary
Mavis Lenore (Muller) Woods was born at the home of her parents on October 16, 1928, in Newark, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Otis and Mildred (Newbold) Muller. Mavis was baptized and confirmed as a youth at the Methodist Church in Minden, Nebraska. She grew up on a rural farm and received her education in rural Kearney County, Nebraska, and later New Ulm, Minnesota. She was a graduate of the class of 1946 at New Ulm High School.
On June 2, 1951, Mavis was united in marriage to Marion Woods at the New Ulm Methodist Church in New Ulm. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Nicollet and Sibley Counties. They were blessed with six children and shared 63 years of marriage before Marion’s passing in November, 2014.
Mavis helped on the family farm and with their trucking business, Rainbow Trucking. Later in life, she became a secretary for Winthrop Elementary School and got her truck driving license so that she and Marion could spend time together after the children had graduated.
Mavis enjoyed time with her sisters, family, and friends in her prayer, bible study, and cards groups. She especially enjoyed being a grandmother and attended many of the school athletics and activities of her grandchildren. Mavis also liked gardening and music, especially Big Band and Christian music. Mavis was very involved in the Evangelical Covenant Church and valued her faith in God, trusting in the Lord to be our provider, guide, and counselor.
Mavis was lovingly cared for by her devoted husband until she needed special assistance with her daily care and became a resident of the Winthrop Care Center and later Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
