Service Information

Merlin A. Landgraff, age 95, of Franklin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Sleepy Eye Rehabilitation Center in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral Service will be Friday, May 29, 2026, 1:00 P.M. at Central Lutheran Church, Camp Township, Renville County, Minnesota, with interment in Ft. Ridgely and Dale Cemetery, Camp Township, Renville County, Minnesota.

Visitation will be two hours prior to service (11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.), ALL at church.

Obituary

Merlin Ardean Landgraff was born on October 12, 1930, in Cairo Township, Renville County, Minnesota. He was the son of Irving and Selma (Johnson) Landgraff. Merlin was baptized as an infant on November 23, 1930, and later confirmed in his faith April 22, 1945, both at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township. He received his education at District 31 Country School in Cairo Township, Renville County, Minnesota.

Merlin was united in marriage to Lucille Johnson on July 1, 1950, at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, Renville County, Minnesota. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Rachel, Glenn and Karen. Merlin and Lucille farmed in Bandon Township, Renville County, until they retired in 1993. They continued living on their farm site until they moved into Franklin on November 17, 1995. The couple was blessed with fifty-one years of marriage. They enjoyed a gathering with their family and friends to celebrate their fiftieth anniversary, in 2000.

Merlin was a long-time member of Central Lutheran Church and on the Fort Ridgely and Dale Cemetery Board. He enjoyed old time music, the concertina, dancing, socializing, playing cards, traveling, especially Sunday afternoon drives, and wintering in Arizona. Merlin cherished time with his family.

Glenn Landgraff of Franklin, MN, and
Karen Borth and her husband, Tom of Richfield, MN;
Step granddaughters, Janina Voelz of Litchfield, MN, and Beth Oslund of Springfield, MN;
Sister-in-law, Marion Johnson of Spring Valley, MN;
Brother-in-law, Herb Nelson and his wife, Barb of Franklin, MN
Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and friends.

Merlin was preceded in death by his Parents, Irving and Selma Landgraff; Wife, Lucille Landgraff; Sisters, Corinne Danielson and her husband, Lloyd, Inez Landgraff, Irene Grengs and her husband, Ervan; Brother, Virgil Landgraff and his wife, Elvira; Brother-in-law, Dick Johnson.
