Janice, Wayne and the rest of the Matthews family. I was sad to hear of Merlie’s passing. He’s most likely already busy up in Heaven fixing some old cars and puttering around. That’s how I remember him back when I was growing up in Lester. Sending you my sincere condolences during this difficult time. God bless y’all.

Very sorry for to hear the news of Merlin’s passing. Merlie always made us neighbor kids feel kind of important growing up since we spent a lot of time at the Mathews home. He always acknowledged us kids because I think he was truly a kid at heart. He was always welcoming, entertaining and loved to call us his jockeys or at least toad or frog depending on the day, lol. Thank you Mathews family for welcoming us and Merlie will be missed. He was a truly good guy with a great sense of humor! Rest in peace Merlie.
