Obituary
Michelle Lynn (Simons) Nelson was born on October 18, 1976, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Daniel and Patricia (Buska) Simons. Michelle was baptized as an infant into the Catholic Faith on November 6, 1976, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 13, 1994, at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe (formerly St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church). She received her education in Glencoe and graduated with the Glencoe-Silver Lake High School class of 1995. She continued her education with studies in Nursing and earned her Nursing Degree from Ridgewater College in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
On March 28, 2001, Michelle was united in marriage to Robert Nelson at the McLeod County Courthouse in Glencoe. They made their home in Glencoe and were blessed with two children, Zackary and Raquel. Michelle and Robert shared over 24 years of marriage.
Michelle was currently employed as a patient access representative at Glencoe Regional Health in Glencoe.
Michelle found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in the company of those she loved. She was a big Minnesota Twins fan and loved cheering them on every season. She loved her books, getting lost in them, especially anything written by Stephen King, and even dabbled in writing her own novel. Michelle’s deep affection for animals was evident in the care she gave to her beloved pets and in her lifelong compassion for them all. She found comfort and creativity in drawing and coloring. Michelle and Kristin enjoyed taking occasional road trips to see new sights and taking in everything nature had to offer. They loved to watch true crime shows together and discuss them afterward. Michelle and Kristin were not just cousins, they were best friends, and they loved reminiscing and laughing about the childhood memories they shared over the years. They also found common joy in quoting lines from all their favorite TV sitcoms. Whether taking quiet walks in nature, enjoying episodes of “The Golden Girls” and “Frasier”, or spending cherished time with family and friends, Michelle lived her life with warmth and kindness that touched everyone who knew her.
Michelle passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at her home in Glencoe, at the age of 49 years. Blessed be her memory.

Kristin Podratz says
I miss you so much already. Many times I’ve reached for my phone to text you something we’d think is funny or to tell you about my day and then I remember you’re never going to reply to me again. I’m sure Sammy was there to greet you and I hope you’ve got all of the books your heart desires. Our favorite episode of Frasier was on last night so you must’ve been visiting me. I know your soul is finally at peace in heaven so fly high until we meet again.
