Service Information
Mildred Rettmann, age 98, of Winthrop passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be Friday, December 16, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Obituary
Mildred Charlotte Rettmann was born on June 5, 1924, in Brownton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Carl and Caroline (Miller) Rettig. Mildred was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Penn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She received her education in Brownton and was a graduate of the Brownton High School class of 1942.
On October 20, 1943, Mildred was united in marriage to Erwin Rettmann, by the Reverend George Mathiae at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Penn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. This union was blessed with four children. The couple farmed in the Gibbon area, until purchasing Erwin’s family farm in Transit Township in October of 1962. On September 16, 1985, the couple moved to Winthrop. Mildred was a loving mother and homemaker. Mildred and Erwin shared 62 years of marriage when Erwin passed away on May 14, 2006.
Mildred was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop and a former member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township. She was active with the Ladies Guild, the Winthrop Senior Citizens and several card clubs.
Mildred loved quilting. She made a quilt for every child and grandchild and baby quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren; making over 100. She enjoyed gardening, and playing cards. She cherished the time she spent with her family especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Mildred became a resident of The Lodge, then Winthrop Good Samaritan Society and in July of 2022 the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center and passed away there on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the age of 98 years. Blessed be her memory.

Mike Rettmann and special friend, Kellie Jennen of Winthrop, MN;
Grandchildren, Daniel Rettmann and his wife, Jan, Craig Rettmann and his wife, Connie, Michelle (Rettmann) Miller and her husband, Bob, Stacey Rettmann and special friend, Kim, Caroline (Rettmann) Stutsman and her husband, Mike, Nicholas Uecker and his wife, Crystal, Megan (Scheid) Goshorn and her husband, Aron, Nathan Scheid and his wife, Breann, KayLynn (Scheid) Smith and her husband, Jarin, Dalton Winn, Dezarae Winn, Derrik Winn II, Brittany (Rettmann) Tollefson and her husband, Tom, Jordan Rettmann, and Cassidy (Rettmann) Timm and her husband, Dan;
Many Great grandchildren and great great grandchildren;
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her Parents, Carl and Caroline Rettig; Husband, Erwin Rettmann; Grandson, Christopher Uecker; Brothers, Gilbert Rettig in infancy, Elmer Rettig, Leonard Rettig, Edwin (Mabel) Rettig, Willmar Rettig; Sister Marjorie (Waldon) Koosman.
