Myra L. Briest, age 71, of Gaylord passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Memorial Services will be Friday, March 6th, 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Obituary
Myra Lee (Stuedeman) Briest was born on May 9, 1943, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Walter and Lillian (Kosek) Stuedeman. Myra was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She received her education in Glencoe and was a 1961 graduate of the Glencoe High School. She attended college in Hibbing, Minnesota.
On April 25, 1965, Myra was united in marriage to James Briest at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe, by Reverend R.F. Meissner. After their marriage, the couple lived on the Briest family farm in Kelso and Sibley Townships, Sibley County, and farmed with James’ brother. She was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Lakeview Nursing Home and Heritage House in Gaylord where she retired. James and Myra shared 46 years of marriage before James passed away on October 15, 2011. They were blessed with five children.
Myra was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was also a member of the Ladies Group at church and the Legion Auxiliary.
Myra enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Myra passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 71 years. Blessed be her memory.

Sisters, Mary Ann Buck of Arlington, MN, and Carol Amorde and her husband, Gene of Superior, WI;
3 Nieces, other relatives and friends.
Myra was preceded in death by her Parents, Walter and Lillian Stuedeman; Husband, James Briest; Brothers-In-Law, Dennis Briest and Maurice Buck.
