Norma Engelmann, age 92, of Waconia, Minnesota, and formerly of Plato, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Auburn Home in Waconia, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017, 3:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017, from 1:00-3:00 P.M., 2 hours prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Norma Frieda (Panning) Engelmann was born on December 3, 1924, at home in Hamburg, Minnesota. She was the daughter of William and Martha (Jaus) Panning. Norma was baptized as an infant on December 14, 1924, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 10, 1938, both by Rev. H. J. Boumann at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota. She received her education at Emanuel Lutheran Church parochial school in Hamburg.
On November 25, 1945, Norma was united in marriage to Elmer John Engelmann by Rev. Wohlfiel at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota. Norma and Elmer made their home on a farm north of Plato, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with eight children, Marianne, Harlan, Wallace, Linda, Roger, Nancy, Karen and Jane. Norma and Elmer shared over 65 years of marriage, until Elmer passed away on November 24, 2011.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Norma helped on the family farm. She was a faithful member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota, where she volunteered to serve at funerals and make quilts.
Norma was family oriented and a hard worker. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, canning and playing cards, especially 500.
Norma passed away peacefully on October 1, 2017 at the Auburn Home in Waconia, Minnesota, at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 28 days. Blessed be her memory.
