Norman Anderson, age 79, of Glencoe, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota, with interment later at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019, from 9:00-11:00 A.M., two hours prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Norman William Anderson was born on February 8, 1939, in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Oscar and Ellen (Norberg) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed on March 28, 1954, by Rev. Peter Erickson. Norman received his education in Chicago, Illinois, graduating from Burnside High School and later furthered his education by attending Journeyman Trade School and graduated in 1972. He entered active military service in the United States Army on October 30, 1961, and served his country during peace time as an aircraft mechanic. Norman received an Honorable Discharge on August 2, 1962.
On November 26, 1994, Norman was united in marriage to Eileen Engelke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota. They made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota. When Norman needed assistance with his daily care he became a resident of GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, in 2016. His life was blessed with three sons, Keith, Eric and Russ and three step sons, Jeff, Jon and Joel. Norman and Eileen shared over 24 years of marriage.
Norman worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union #1644. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota. He was also a member of the Glencoe American Legion Post #95 in Glencoe, Minnesota, the YMCA-Wisemen where he sold Christmas trees in the winter and camp stools at the Minneapolis Aquatennial Torchlight Parade for many years. Norman was a charter member of the Wood Working Club in Glencoe and helped Habitat for Humanity.
Norman enjoyed golfing, camping, skiing, yardwork, woodworking and reading. He loved watching sports, especially high school football. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
Norman passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 7 days.

Norman was preceded in death by his Parents, Oscar and Ellen Anderson; Siblings, June, Carl, Vivian, Ken, Harold.
