Orvis N. Baumgardt, age 87, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, and will continue one hour prior to the service at Faith Lutheran Church.
Obituary
Orvis Neal Baumgardt was born on May 9, 1937, in Grafton Township, Minnesota. He was the son of Edward and Feola (Leske) Baumgardt. Orvis was baptized as an infant on June 27, 1937, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 29, 1951, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. He received his education in Buffalo Lake, and was a graduate of the Buffalo Lake High School Class of 1955.
On August 9, 1974, Orvis was united in marriage to Dorothy Wendorff at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township, Minnesota. Orvis and Dorothy resided in Buffalo Lake, and later moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared almost 50 years of marriage.
Orvis farmed in rural Buffalo Lake. He was also a truck driver for McCormick Implement of Stewart, Minnesota, for 26 years. He retired in 1995. Orvis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He was an usher and Sunday School Superintendent in Buffalo Lake.
Orvis enjoyed playing the concertina, dancing, jigsaw puzzles, deer hunting, and going on bus tours. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
Orvis passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of 87 years.

Orvis is preceded in death by his Parents, Edward and Feola Baumgardt; Daughter, Lorrie Odegard; Brother, Dale Baumgardt and his wife, Delores; Sisters, LaVonne Klitzke and her husband, Alfred, Millicent Simpson and her husband, Maurice; Brother-in-law, Delwin Schrupp; Nephews, Dean Klitzke, Burton Klitzke, Steve Baumgardt.

I am so sorry for the loss of Orvis. I remember sitting in the basement of the Buffalo Lake house and listening to him play the concertina. I was always in awe. Orvis and Dorothy always stopped to say “Hi” whenever we saw each other. My prayers are with you all during this time.
