Obituary
Patricia Lynne Fischer was born on July 13, 1947, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the oldest daughter of James and Gladys (Richards) Young. Pat was also lucky to have a long and close relationship with her step-mother Elsa Young. Pat was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Vineyard United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. She attended school in Hutchinson until her junior year. Following the death of her father, she and her sister moved to her aunt and uncle’s farm in Hector. Pat was a graduate of Hector High School.
She grew up in Hutchinson and later attended Mankato State University and married Brian Fischer in 1967. While Brian was in the Air Force, they moved to Texas and then Newport News, Virginia. She and Brian moved back to Minnesota in 1973 and raised their family in Hutchinson.
Pat worked for Home Interiors for 33 years and made many, many lifelong friends. She received many national sales award trips throughout her career with Home Interiors. Pat and Brian moved in 2009 from Hutchinson to the Oakdale Golf Course near Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. Pat never thought of retiring and started to work for her nephew at K&S Millwrights in Buffalo Lake. She loved working in the office and making sure the guys had cookies.
She loved her friends and active social life with her Oakdale community where she took up golfing with Brian and her friends. She loved decorating and entertaining and was always busy planning a dinner, having dinner with friends, or meeting up at the golf club.
Pat will be remembered for her love of family, her generosity, and her quick wit. She was an amazing wife, mom, and nana. What she enjoyed most was cooking with, and for her family and friends. She made wonderful memories with her kids and grandkids sharing her recipes and words of wisdom. She loved being involved and would put everything in “her calendar” so they wouldn’t miss a thing. She spent hours at sporting events cheering (loudly) for her kids and then grandkids. Pat loved traveling and would go anywhere. She especially loved their trips to Austin, Texas to spend time with Jay & Robin and kids, to Cabo San Lucas, and to the cabin up north. She believed in making everyday count and she did.
Pat was diagnosed with ALS in 2019 and she made everyday count. She passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 9, 2021, at the age of 73 years. Her spirit will live on through everyone she touched.

Barbara and John Devlin says
Pat was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. As her step sister, I especially appreciated the kindness that Pat and her sister, Connie, extended toward my mother (Elsa Young) during the last years of her life. My mother always looked forward to their visits as a source of great conversation and good fun! Although Pat’s death came far too soon, she spent her time on earth well, giving joy to others, loving, and being loved in return. We extend our sympathies and prayers to Brian, Jennifer, Jay, and the entire Fischer family, and to Pat’s sister, Connie Maiers, and her family.

Jo Reck says
Brian, Jennifer and Scott, Jay and Robin and Connie,
It is with my most sincere sadness and sympathy that I say farewell to a dear, longtime friend. So many years we worked together in Home Interiors, helping each other out with “out of stock” or “discontinued” items the other one happened to have in their stock, going to sales meetings, and conferences out of state…the laughs we shared over hilarious “screw ups” of hers or mine, and all the good times in between. It just doesn’t seem possible she is gone, even though I’ve not seen her since I left Buffalo Lake. She was just one of those people you could always count on…a person that was so very easy to love. I have so many fun memories I will hold dear, and I hope all your precious memories will give you comfort and smiles in the days and years to come. She LOVED those grandbabies, and whenever she spoke of them her face just lit up in smiles. She sure loved her family! I will be holding you all close to my heart and in my thoughts and prayers, as you navigate the days ahead. May God wrap you all in peace , knowing she definitely earned her Angel wings! Much love and care, Joey Larson Reck
