Obituary

Phoebe Omeita Olson was born November 5, 1927, in Becker, Minnesota, the daughter of Samuel and Ellen (Metzger) McCalla. Phoebe grew up in Becker, and graduated with the Class of 1945 from the Becker High School. Following graduation she worked at the Becker Post Office until she was married.

On November 5, 1947, Phoebe was united in marriage to Murlin Olson. They moved to Buffalo Lake where they raised their four children: Mary, Norman, Stanley, and Luanne. They enjoyed their life of farming until retirement in 1990. Phoebe and Murlin had shared 62 years of marriage when Murlin passed away on July 7, 2010. Phoebe moved into the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in 2010.

Throughout the busy and wonderful years as a wife, mother, and “farmerette,” Phoebe was also an avid gardener, she loved flowers and digging in the dirt. She was noted for her baking skills, and her recipes are still used and cherished. Phoebe was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake. She taught Sunday school for a number of years, and was involved with a Bible Study group. In her leisure time she was a 4-H Leader, enjoyed her project group, birthday group, family events, and bus trips.

On Thursday evening, April 13, 2017, Phoebe passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital, having reached the age of 89 years.  Her sweet, kind nature and delightful laugh will be remembered and cherished by family and friends. Blessed be her memory.

My deepest sympathy to all. Jesus felt the deep pain death causes when we lose someone we love, knowing He feels that we do about Death is a comfort to us John 14:9; John 11: 21,33,35.
