Randell “Randy” Ostendorf, age 66, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020, at his home in Hutchinson.
Memorial Service will be Thursday, June 18, 2020, 5:00 P.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
Obituary
Randell “Randy” Gary Ostendorf was born March 5, 1954, in Willmar, Minnesota. He was the son of George and Evelyn (Strootman) Ostendorf. Randy was baptized at the Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. He started his education in Clara City and finished in Elk River.
On June 30, 1978, Randy was united in marriage to Karen Hakomaki in Decorah, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with four children.
Randy owned and operated Pointers Minnesota, a fully operational bird dog kennel. He was a founding member of Shoot to Retrieve – Minnesota, a successful bird dog trainer, and competed in the North American Hunting Dog Association hunting trials. His passion was bringing not only a great bird dog to the field but also to the family. Randy was an avid hunter, woodsman, craftsman, and enthusiastic motorhead. One of his most recent joys was his Harley-Davidson. He was a great jokester and always had a story to tell.
Randy passed away on June 12, 2020, at his home in Hutchinson. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his biggest pride and joy in life. His grandchildren were his shining stars. He had a true gift in welcoming friends as family. Randy’s family motto was, “All of us together, are better than anyone of us alone.”
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Ostendorf; Children Carrie (Mark) Anderson, Nick Ostendorf, Amy (Andy) Ostendorf-Krohn, and Kristen (Doug) Hommerding; Grandchildren Jeffry, Jarret, Kelsi, Alana, Samuel, Colten, Brock, Tiffany, Brooklyn, Katie, and Kade; Brother, Dale (Rhonda) Ostendorf; Nephews, Troy and Steve Ostendorf (and families), along with other extended family and friends.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn (Strootman) Ostendorf, daughter-in-law Morgan Ostendorf, nephew Ricky Ostendorf, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other extended family. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
