Randy G. Rettmann, age 69, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at his home.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, 11:00 A.M, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with interment following in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 P.M., at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Obituary
Randy Gary Rettmann was born on February 7, 1955, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of Alvin and Esther (Habeck) Rettmann. Randy was baptized on March 6, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. Randy was confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 19, 1968, at Faith United Church in Winthrop, Minnesota. He received his education in Stewart, Minnesota, up until his Junior Year, and graduated with the GFW High School class of 1974.
On October 2, 1982, Randy was united in marriage to Diane Kay Schauer by Rev. Harvey G. Kath at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Randy and Diane made their home in the Glencoe area. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Catherine and Daniel. Randy and Diane shared 42 years of marriage together.
Randy was first employed as an Over the Road Truck Driver for a number of companies around Minnesota. Years later Randy worked for General Mills in Chanhassen, Minnesota, and worked as a forklift driver and picking orders. Most recently, Randy worked for PCI Roads LLC out of St. Micheal, Minnesota, hauling cement to job sites. Randy was a long-time member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe and an active member of the Shady Lane Sportsmen’s Club.
Randy loved to spend time outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved going on motorcycle trips and traveling to places like New York, California, and Washington. He loved to travel to Yellowstone, Canada, Alaska, and South Dakota, where he looked forward to going pheasant hunting, and it was always a given that they would be fishing there. Randy’s favorite place to travel with Diane was to Lake George in Outing, Minnesota, where he first taught Diane to fish. Spending time with his family, his grandchildren who knew him as “Papa”, and his dogs, was the time he cherished most.
Randy passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at his home outside Glencoe, at the age of 69 years 8 months 10 days. Blessed be his memory.

Siblings, Sharon Meyer of Winthrop, MN, Larry (Bonnie) Rettmann of Belview, MN;
Sister-in-law, Vera Rettmann of Hutchinson, MN;
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Alvin and Esther Rettmann; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Arnold and Yvonne Schauer; Brother, Lawrence Rettmann; Nieces, Jennifer Rettmann, Amy Rettmann, Laurie Rettmann.

Randy was well known by everyone at Westwwod Farm in Plato, Mn. Both is children Dan and Kathy both took riding lessons here and both were emplyed here. Now his Grand children ride here. Aubree is only four and is a impressive rider and is winning in the show ring. Randy and Diane were always here to support her and cheer her on. Everyone liked Randy as he was nice to everyone and will be missed by all. My deepest sympathy to his family.
