Obituary
Raymond Peter Spurzem was born on October 31, 1946, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. He was the son of Raymond and Irene (Bird) Spurzem. Raymond was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. He received his education in Robbinsdale, and was a graduate of the Robbinsdale High School Class of 1964.
On April 11, 1970, Raymond was united in marriage to Arlene MacDonald at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Golden Valley, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Toni, Gene, and Terry. Raymond and Arlene resided in Cokato, and later moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 52 years of marriage.
Raymond was a Boiler Maker Local 647 and worked for various companies in a five-state area. He retired in 2003.
Raymond enjoyed camping, four-wheeling. He also loved working on cars and over the years had many different vehicles. He loved the demo derbies at all the county fairs and would often be in the pit area helping the drivers. During his retirement he started to work on riding lawn mowers for racing, and enjoyed this very much with his family. There wasn't a car, lawn mower or anything mechanical, he could not fix.

Ray was a cousin that I always enjoyed talking to. We could always reminisce about the old times for a long time.
As kids we called him baby Ray and never thought much about it until he told us not to. Wish we lived closer!
My heart goes out to his family and friends.
Mary (Tighe) Egan says
Arlene and family – I remember hanging at your house at Crawford Lake in Buffalo, Ray taught my brother Tim all there is to know about cars. Ray was a bear of a man but very gentle with a great booming laugh! I’ll remember him fondly.
