Obituary

Rebecca “Becky” Lucille (Nelsen) Seller was born on March 24, 1931, at her parent’s home in Hassan Valley Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was one of thirteen children born to Henry and Emma (Karg) Nelsen.  Becky was baptized as an infant, on July 5, 1931, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, on April 14, 1946, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Becky was raised on the family farm in rural Hutchinson. She completed her education at McLeod County School District 56 Country School on June 28, 1946. Becky was fond of the fact that her present home was built on the site of where she and Ervin met and attended school.

On August 26, 1950, Becky was united in marriage to Ervin Seller at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, by Pastor Koehler. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Marvin, Marlan, Mark, Meldon and Michelle. Becky and Ervin resided in rural Hutchinson, where they farmed until Ervin’s retirement. They were blessed with over 57 years of marriage, until Ervin passed away on April 24, 2008. 

Becky lovingly took care of her family and home for many years as a homemaker. Later in life, she assisted many people with in-home care. Becky was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.

Becky enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and making and sharing her favorite “divinity” candy.  She also enjoyed listening to “old time” music, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Becky remained active until a recent diagnosis of Lymphoma. When Becky needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted, Minnesota, on December 7, 2015. She passed away there on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at the age of 84 years.
