Service Information
Richard John Hoff, age 73, of Cosmos, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016, at his home.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 19, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills Township, rural Hutchinson.
Interment will be held in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 18, 2016, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills Township, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Obituary
Richard John Hoff was born October 2, 1942, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the son of Harry and Ethel (Fischer) Hoff. He was baptized on November 8, 1942 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township, and was confirmed in his faith on May 19, 1957, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills Township. Richard grew up in Cedar Mills Township, and received his elementary education at Pipe Lake Country School. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Cedar Mills Township during seventh and eighth grade, and transferred to the Hutchinson High School.
On January 24, 1965, Richard was united in marriage to Carol Nagel in Litchfield, Minnesota. They made their home on the farm in Cedar Mills Township, and were blessed with two children, Paul Hoff and Carla (David) Samek, and two grandchildren, Katie and Ryan. Richard farmed with his Dad prior to managing his own farming operation. He also sold seed for Johnson Seed Company in Dassel. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills Township.
Richard enjoyed going to the sales barn and auctions, wheeling and dealing with others. He liked his tractors, and enjoyed raising cattle and ducks. He enjoyed visiting with people, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016, having reached the age of 73.

Brother-in-Law, Duane Nagel and his Wife, Diane, of Silver Creek;
Sisters-in-law, Karen Kurth and Husband Gary of Hutchinson, and
Wendy Dixon and Husband Chris of Montrose;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his Parents, Harry and Ethel Hoff, his Parents-in-law, Willie and Sally Nagel, and by his Sister-in-law, Diane Nagel.
