Obituary

Robert “Bob” Hammer was born on October 17, 1930, in Lake Henry, Minnesota. He was the son of Alois and Margaret (Stockard) Hammer. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Church of St. Margaret in Lake Henry. Bob grew up on a farm at Lake Henry. He received his education at a country school near Lake Henry.

On December 29, 1955, Bob was united in marriage to Mary Ann Brulla at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with five children, Rick, Sue, Gary, Sandy, and Tom. Bob and Mary made their home in Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 63 years of marriage.

Bob was employed with Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing in Hutchinson for 36 years, before retiring in 1991. He attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson for 63 years.

Bob was an amazing woodworker, he enjoyed making wooden toys. He loved to garden and fish, and could fix anything. Bob enjoyed time spent with his family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When Bob needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on May 6, 2019. He passed away there, with his family at his bedside, on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at the age of 88 years. Blessed be his memory.

Grandchildren, John Hammer and his wife, Kelsey, Jeff Hammer and his fiancée, Erin, Katie Hammer and her boyfriend, Reed, Brittney Swenson and her husband, Zak, Lauren Schloeder and her husband, Nick, and Stephanie Schmitt;
Step-Grandchildren, Tommy Horn and Ellie Horn;
Great-Grand Children, Quinn Swenson, Brooke Swenson, Kolton Schmitt, and expected great-grandchild of John and Kelsey;
Sister-In-Law, Flo Hammer of Richmond, MN;
many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Margaret Hammer; son, Rick Hammer; daughter, Sandra Erickson; sister Eileen Norton and her husband, William; brother, Kenneth Hammer.
