Obituary
Robert “Bob” Joseph Ludowese was born on May 2, 1933, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to John and Frances (Weivoda) Ludowese. He was baptized and later confirmed in his faith, both at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, Minnesota. Robert attended school in Bird Island, Minnesota, and graduated with the Bird Island High School Class of 1951. He worked alongside his father, John on the family farm.
Robert was united in marriage to Jessie Ann Putney on February 16, 1957, at St. Boniface Catholic Church and made their home on the Ludowese family farm in Grafton Township, rural Stewart, Minnesota. It was there they raised their 10 children, Roberta, Meg, Nick, Joan, Christine, David, Julie, Deb, Rachel and Steve. They shared over 64 years of marriage.
Robert was a farmer all his life until he retired in 1992 and his sons, who had worked alongside him, continue to operate Ludowese Farms to this day. Robert continued to help on the farm and stayed involved right until the end of his life. Robert had a huge variety of interests but loved fishing, playing cards, auctions and collecting antiques, most especially collecting antique tractors. Robert loved camping with family, road trips across the country and traveling outside the US. He had a lot of fun with his children and grandchildren playing cards and games, going on family trips, but most of all playing cribbage. He was also honored to be blessed with beautiful great-grandchildren.
He attended the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, Minnesota, but kept a connection to his childhood church, St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1625 of Fairfax, MN. He was also a member of the Glencoe Sportsmen Club.
