Service Information
Roman “Red” Zachow, age 97, of Gaylord passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Bayside Manor in Gaylord.
Funeral Service will be Friday, September 15, 2023, 10:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, ALL at church.
Military Honors by the Mantey-Asmus American Legion Post #433 in Gaylord.
Obituary
Roman “Red” Albert Zachow was born on September 5, 1926, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of William R. and Agnes (Maass) Zachow. Red was baptized as an infant on October 3, 1926, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 17, 1940 by Reverend Winter, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. He received his education in Gaylord and was a graduate of the Gaylord High School Class of 1944.
Red entered active military service on August 26, 1944, and served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was Honorably Discharged on July 9, 1946.
Red was employed by Northern States Power Company as a line man, retiring in 1984.
Red was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #433.
Red enjoyed all kinds of hunting, especially duck hunting, fishing, woodworking, bird watching and feeding. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Red became a resident of Bayside Manor and passed away there on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the age of 97 years. Blessed be his memory.

Sister-in-law, Doris Zachow of Minneapolis, MN;
Nieces and Nephews, Becky Clark, Chris Kephart, Linda Jackson, Penney Butler, Steve Agre, Scott Agre, and Mary Langhorst;
Other relatives and friends.
Red was preceded in death by his Parents, William and Agnes Zachow; Sisters, Marian Henke and Dorothy Agre; Brother, Merton Zachow, Brother-in-laws, Jim Agre and LeRoy Henke; Nephew, Michael Henke.
