Roman G. Zins, age 76, of St. Cloud, Minnesota, formerly of Hutchinson, Minnesota passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016, at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016, at 2:00 P.M., at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, with interment in St. Anastasia Catholic Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel.
Military honors are with the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Obituary
Roman G. Zins was born on January 16, 1940, in Olivia, Minnesota. He was the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Schmidt) Zins. He was baptized as an infant at St. Aloysius in Olivia, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. Thomas More Church in Lake Lillian, Minnesota. Roman received his education at the Litchfield High School in Litchfield, Minnesota. He also received a Diploma from Hutchinson Vo-Tech (now Ridgewater College).
Roman entered active military service in the United States Navy on March 3, 1958. He served his country during the Vietnam War. His last duty assignment was with the U.S.S. Genesee. He received an Honorable Discharge on February 13, 1962, and continued serving his country with the Naval Reserve until March 2, 1964. Roman achieved the rank of E5.
On May 4, 1963, Roman was united in marriage to Deanna Wittman at St. Thomas More Church in Lake Lillian. This marriage was blessed with two children, Rick and Dan. Roman and Deanna resided in Hutchinson. Together they shared 38 years of marriage.
Roman was employed with 3M of Hutchison until 1970, when he started his own Tool and Die Company, Zins Machining Inc. (ZMI). He retired in 2002. Roman attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Roman enjoyed the great outdoors; he loved to fish, hunt, snowmobile and tend to his garden. He was also an excellent cook and enjoyed grilling for his family and friends. His most memorable times were spent Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and spending time at his cabin in Outing, MN. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
When Roman needed assistance with his daily care he became a resident at St. Benedict’s Senior Community on April 19, 2014. He passed away there on Monday, May 23, 2016, at the age of 76 years.
He will be dearly missed.

Grandchildren, Michael Zins and his wife, Amanda, Kristina Dabbs and her husband, Derek and Emily Zins;
Great Grandchildren, Levi Zins, Elizabeth Zins, Olivia Zins and expecting another very soon.

Virgil Zins and his wife, Brenda of Cosmos, MN;

Steve Zins and his wife, Vicky of Fairbanks, AK;
Debbie Robbins and her husband, Larry of Seattle, WA
Many other relatives and friends.
Roman is preceded in death by his: Parents, Lawrence and Margaret Zins; Sisters, Lorraine Schmeling, Judy Martin.

Zins family – please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers as you grieve together. At least a couple of the Zins “boys” drove truck for my dad (Lowell Benson/Cosmos Transfer) when they were young, and we all thought highly of your family.
