Ruben Ebert

Obituary

Ruben Herman Ebert was born on April 21, 1937, in Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of Herman and Elsie (Grewe) Ebert. Ruben was baptized as an infant on May 2, 1937, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 25, 1951, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. He received his education in Gaylord and was a graduate of the Gaylord High School class of 1955.

On June 13, 1956, Ruben entered military duty with the United States Army Reserves. He achieved the rank of Sergeant E-5 and was Honorably Discharged on April 30, 1963.

On July 16, 1960, Ruben was united in marriage to Eldrene Ziegler at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord. He was a life-long resident of Gaylord. He was a farmer and also hauled alfalfa for Easland Trucking. Ruben and Eldrene were blessed with four children, Mari Lu, Jon, Joel, and Sara. They shared 62 years of marriage.

Ruben was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and the Gaylord Game Protective League.

Ruben enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, traveling with Eldrene on fall “Color Tours”, playing cards, especially pinochle, and trap shooting. Ruben was an avid baseball fan. He played shortstop for the Gaylord varsity team in grades 9-12, and was also on the Gaylord Town Team in the early 50s. The time he spent with his family, was very “precious.”

When he needed assistance with his daily care, Ruben became a resident of Bayside Manor in Gaylord and passed away there on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at the age of 85 years. Blessed be his memory.

Great grandchildren, Audrey Brown, Allison Brown, Vincent Brown, August Brown, Kathryn Martens, Colt Wolter, Bryce Wolter;
