Rueben Meyer, age 86, of Gaylord passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Golden Hearts in Arlington, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at the United Church of Christ in Gaylord with interment in the Gaylord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, September 16, 2019, from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the United Church of Christ in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Obituary
Rueben Meyer was born on September 9, 1933, in Sibley Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of Albert H. and Selma (Boettcher) Meyer Sr. Rueben was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He attended a country school while being involved in farming at an early age.
On September 4, 1952, Rueben entered active military service in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was proud to have been an instructor during this time. Rueben received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He received his Honorable Discharge on September 3, 1954.
On June 10, 1955, Rueben was united in marriage to Carol Anderson at the Winthrop Covenant Church. Rueben and Carol were blessed with two children, Leslie Meyer (Brenda) and Ruby Goldberg (Jeff.) The Meyer's farmed south of Gaylord for most of their lives, until moving into Gaylord. Rueben and Carol shared 45 years of marriage until Carol’s passing on January 18, 2001.
Rueben and Carol participated in many building projects with both Christian Farmers of America and Habitat for Humanity. Rueben also serves as a Sibley County Commissioner, was active in Sertoma and taught Sunday School for many years at the United Church of Christ.
On November 24, 2001, Rueben was united in marriage to Bonnie (Boese) Frauendienst. They moved to a lakeside home in Gaylord and enjoyed their families, companionship and travel. Rueben and Bonnie shared 17 years of marriage.
Rueben enjoyed camping, fishing, and took many trips to various countries, including numerous visits to Germany to see family.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Rueben became a resident of Golden Hearts in Arlington and passed away there on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the age of 86 years. Blessed be his memory.

Great-grandchildren, Thomas and Patrick LaMere;
Stepchildren, Donovan (Keisha) Frauendienst, Jr., Laura (Darren) Reid, and Meredith Frauendienst;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rueben was preceded in death by his Parents, Albert H. and Selma Meyer; Brother, Albert Meyer Jr.; Wife, Carol Meyer; Grandson, Brandon Meyer.
