Ruth A. Olson, age 95, of Gaylord passed away Monday, August 19, 2024, at Bayside Manor in Gaylord.
Memorial Service will be Friday, August 30, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church, Sibley Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. and will continue from 9:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. on Friday, ALL at the church.
Memorials preferred to Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church.
Obituary
Ruth Agnes Olson was born on September 5, 1928, in Sibley Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Selmer and Stella (Goodman) Wold. Ruth was baptized as an infant on September 6, 1928, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 3, 1942, both at Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church. She received her education in Gaylord and was a graduate of the Gaylord High School Class of 1946. Ruth furthered her education at the Franklin Hospital in Minneapolis and received her LPN degree in 1947.
On August 23, 1947, Ruth was united in marriage to Lloyd Olson by Reverend M.E. Tweit, at Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church in Sibley Township. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord. This union was blessed with three children, Gary, Gwendolyn and Greggory. Ruth was a loving mother and homemaker. Ruth and Lloyd shared 61 years of marriage when Lloyd passed away on July 8, 2009.
Ruth was a life-long member of Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She was also a 70-year member of the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Auxiliary.
Ruth enjoyed cooking, baking, and knitting. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her care, Ruth moved into the assisted living at Oak Terrace in April of 2013 now Bayside Manor and passed away there on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the age of 95 years. Blessed be her memory.

Grandchildren, Eric Smith and his significant other, Tricia Allen, Melissa (Smith) Keller and her husband, Mark, Stephanie (Olson) Krueger and her husband, Scott, Katie (Olson) Joehnck and her husband, Tim, Tiffany (Maughn) Pettengill, Abby (Olson) Williams and her husband, Karson, Garrett Olson, and Andrew Olson and his wife, Tina;
Step-grandchildren, Andrew Blackstone and his wife, Lacy, and Joel Blackstone and his wife, Melanie;
23 Great-grandchildren;
9 Step-great-grandchildren;
4 Great-great-grandchildren;
3 Step-great-great-grandchildren;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her Parents, Selmer and Stella Wold; Husband, Lloyd Olson; Brothers, Harold (Victoria) Wold, Stanley (LaVonne) Wold, and Raymond Wold.

We are so very sorry to hear about Ruthies passing. She was a special lady that was so fun to chat with and a great hostess that always had something to serve when visiting. I have known her for many years, and she always looked so nice and was kind and giving and knew so much. She will be missed and remembered by many.
