Ruth was baptized as an infant on September 21, 1924, and was later confirmed in her faith in 1939, both at Main Street Lutheran Church (now Faith Lutheran Church). She received her education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1942. She went on to complete one year at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska.
On August 15, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Kenneth McKay at Main Street Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Ronald and James. Ruth was employed at Kennedy’s Department Store, Citizen’s Bank, Dr. Charles Sheppard and 1st National Bank all in Hutchinson. She retired in 1978. So sorry for your loss. What a sweet and kind, KIND lady! She was such a good friend to my elderly mother and no matter how Ruth felt she always had a cheerful smile and a hello. Her family’s dedication and care to Ruth also speaks volumes of the family’s compassion, but also of Ruth’s character as after all she raised her sons and I’m sure she was a great mom!! She will be dearly missed – Ruth is special!!
