Sarah M. Swenson

Obituary

Sarah May (Paulmann) Swenson was born on April 17, 1925, in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Katherine (Trocke) Paulmann. Sarah was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Zion Lutheran Church in New Auburn Township. She received her education at the country school in New Auburn Township.

On May 5, 1946, Sarah was united in marriage to Melvin Uecker at Zion Lutheran Church in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Dryden Township, Sibley County. This union was blessed with two children, Roger and Cindy. They shared 25 years of marriage before Melvin passed away on December 25, 1971.

On July 9, 1977, Sarah was united in marriage to Harry Swenson at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville. After their marriage, the couple resided in St. Peter, Minnesota. Sarah was employed as a cook for the St. Peter Schools. They shared 18 years of marriage before Harry passed away in December of 1995.

Sarah was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville.

Sarah enjoyed cooking, baking, especially Christmas cookies, embroidering towels, and quilting. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When she needed assistance with her daily care, Sarah became a resident of Oak Terrace Assisted Living on October 29, 2009, and in April of 2016, she became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord, and passed away there on Friday, September 2, 2016, at the age of 91 years. Blessed be her memory.

                        Cindy Kowalski and her husband, John of Roseville, MN;
Grandchildren, Russell (Jill) Uecker, Jenny Uecker (Kelly Parpart), Andrew Kowalski, Kaitlyn Kowalski;
Great-Grandchildren, Jordan Uecker, Nicholas Parpart;
Brother, John Paulmann of Arlington, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sarah was preceded in death by her Parents, John and Katherine Paulmann; Husbands, Melvin Uecker and Harry Swenson; Siblings, Irene Krecklau, Leona Skaro, Gladys Flantz; Grandson, Matthew Uecker.
