Obituary
Scott Brian Schwartz was born on June 26, 1947 at the Glencoe Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed at the Church of Peace in Glencoe. Scott grew up on a farm outside of Glencoe in a loving family. There, he developed his love of the outdoors: hunting, fishing, playing football and baseball.
He attended District 4 country school, Glencoe Junior High and graduated in 1965 from Brownton High School. His graduating class produced lifelong friendships. The 65ers sure knew how to have fun! During summers, he worked at Green Giant Co. Scott attended St. Cloud State until being drafted in 1967. He served in the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1969.
Scott and Ann Marie Kosiba were married in 1970 and were blessed with four daughters. He started at the Hutchinson Police Department in 1970 and served his community until he retired as a Lieutenant in 1997. He felt fortunate to work alongside such great men and women and was honored to call them friends.
His retirement was spent enjoying his family, friends and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids in their many activities.
His honest, kind and loyal nature earned him the respect of everyone he met. His laughter, storytelling and compassion earned him the complete adoration of his grandkids. Scott passed away peacefully January 24th surrounded by his family.
Scott is survived by his wife, Ann of Hutchinson. Daughters Heather Schwartz of New Hope, Katie (Chad) Gagnon of Annandale, Melanie Schwartz of Hutchinson and Carrie (Justin) Berggren of Hutchinson. Grandchildren, Cole, Grace, Carson and Avery Gagnon, Brianna Schwartz, and Kali and Brody Berggren. Siblings Terry (Bruce) Schroer of Perham, Mel (Kay) Schwartz of Darwin, Dave (Irene) Schwartz of Litchfield, Gail (Dale) Rach of Glencoe and Glen Schwartz of Glencoe along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Katie Schwartz and Granddaughter Jensyn, daughter of Melanie.

Ann and Family,
Not living in the Hutchinson area any longer it was with much surprise and sadness that we heard about Scott’s passing. Our memories were formed through daughter, Erin who was friends with Katie and spent back time back and forth in our respective homes. We came to know Scott as very fine individual, a great parent and as a highly valued member of the police department. During that time, on one occasion, our daughter attempted to start a friend’s car in the McDonald’s parking lot. The car malfunctioned and took her through the lot, over a curb and then rammed into the building wall of McDonalds, giving a new meaning to the “drive-in” concept. Our daughter was horrified! The policeman who arrived was Officer Scott, who handled the situation in a very calm and reassuring manner. Our heartfelt sympathies to your family.
