Shirley Kroells

Obituary

Shirley Louise Kroells was born on May 10, 1929, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herbert and Frieda (Neske) Oelfke. Shirley was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. She received her education at Emanuel Lutheran Parochial School in Hamburg.

On November 15, 1947, Shirley was united in marriage to Melvin Kroells at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Hamburg area for five years. They moved to Gaylord in 1956 and lived there until 1972 when they moved to Buffalo. She most recently resided at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.

Shirley was a current member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran in Gaylord and St. John’s Lutheran in Buffalo.

Shirley enjoyed flowers, gardening, baking and cooking. She was known as the cookie grandma! Shirley cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Shirley passed away on January 18, 2018, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord at the age of 88 years. Blessed be her memory.

12 Great-Grandchildren;
Brother, Harold Oelfke and his wife, Betty;
Sisters-In-Law, Vivian Kroells and Geraldine Kroells;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her Parents, Herbert and Frieda Oelfke; Husband, Melvin Kroells; Son, Dennis Kroells; and Son-In-Law, Dale Grochow.
