Service Information
Shirley Thoele, age 91, of Le Sueur, Minnesota, formerly of rural Nicollet passed away Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Comfort Residence in Le Sueur.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 3, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church in Sibley Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2020, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials preferred to Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church.
Obituary
Shirley Edythe Thoele was born on December 22, 1928, in Mankato, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Beaver and Grace (Russell) Northamer. Shirley was baptized April 9, 1939 at First Christian Church in Mankato. She was confirmed in her faith December 8, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She attended Mankato Teacher’s College until her marriage and then after her children had all graduated from high school, she received her GED.
On May 6, 1945, Shirley was united in marriage to Marvin Thoele at the First Church of Christ in Mankato. This marriage was blessed with seven children. Shirley and Marvin resided and farmed in New Sweden Township on the family farm. They shared 63 years of marriage when Marvin passed away on April 4, 2009.
Shirley was a member of Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church in Sibley Township.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, gardening and farm work. She was active in Ladies Aid, Home Extension, and Monday Morning Friendship Club. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Shirley became a resident of Comfort Residence in Le Sueur on September 16, 2019, and passed away there on Friday, February 28, 2020, at the age of 91 years. Blessed be her memory.
