Obituary
Steven Donald Dobie was born on July 17, 1963, in St. Peter, Minnesota. He was the son of Gerald and Marlyn “Jean” (Wolfe) Dobie. Steve was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Peter, MN. He received his education in St. Peter, and was a graduate of the St. Peter High School Class of 1981.
Steve entered active military service in the United States Navy on February 2, 1982, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and served his country during Peace Time. He served on the nuclear submarine USS Pintado. He received an Honorable Discharge on December 15, 1983, at Navsta Pearl Harbor by PSD Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and achieved the rank of Seaman.
On December 12, 2004, Steve was united in marriage to Jennifer Boland at their home in Hutchinson, Minnesota. They resided in Hutchinson. Steve and Jennifer shared 19 years of marriage.
Steve was employed by Scott County as a Principal Solutions Analyst / Infrastructure Architecture since 2007. Prior to working at Scott County, Steve was employed at HTI for 15 years. Steve was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteer coach and board member on Hutchinson Soccer Association.
Steve had a profound love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting trips to Colorado, Alaska, Canada, and northern Minnesota, with his very good friends. He loved passing this respect of the outdoors on to his kids. Each trip was a teaching and learning experience in which he reveled, sharing his knowledge. Every Thanksgiving you would find him at the local boat landings, checking the ice. The minute there was enough ice, you would find him getting his gear in order and heading out with whoever would go along, often for days at a time. This love of the outdoors extended to his home, as evidenced by the extensive landscaping he completed over the years providing an oasis overlooking the river. Steve also enjoyed sharing his time and tools helping friends and family with projects that required more than a hammer. Above all, his greatest joy was his family. Steve and Jennifer had a beautiful blended family of 9, welcoming new sons and daughters in law and grandchildren along the way.
Steve passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Lakeside Generations in Dassel, Minnesota, at the age of 60 years.
Blessed be his memory.

My sympathy to Jennifer and all of Steve’s family and fiends. If only I could wrap my arms around them and comfort them at this difficult time. Steve and his family were the best neighbors anyone cold ever ask for. Anytime we needed help assistance, like after a damaging storm, or a bit of advice on how to repair or build something, Steve was always there. And when cleaning up storm damage Steve would always arrive with some of his family and start the clean up. I will never forget all the great conversations and all the generosity he gave to us and others.
Love and hugs and rest in peace Steve.

Ultimately, I don’t know if there’s anything I can say to ease the pain. Just know that you are loved by many and there are many of us thinking about you and your family and praying that you find comfort in your family and friends during this time. Sincerely, Casey Pratt
