Obituary
Susan “Susie” Alice Prochaska was born on July 6, 1947, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ben and Alice (Teply) Vorlicek. Susie was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake, Minnesota. She received her education in Silver Lake and graduated with the Silver Lake High School class of 1965.
On February 6, 1967, Susie was united in marriage to LeRoy Prochaska by Father Halloran at St. George Catholic Church in Glencoe. Susie and LeRoy made their home on the Prochaska Family Farm near Glencoe, Minnesota. The couple was blessed with three children, Julie, Brian “Myron”, and Amanda. They shared nearly 47 years of marriage when LeRoy passed away on January 24, 2014.
Susie worked a variety of jobs over the years. She worked at 3M Manufacturing in Hutchinson, was a bartender and waitress at the Glencoe Liquor Store and the VFW in Glencoe, worked at Starkey in Glencoe for 20 years, and most recently at Alsleben Meats, LLC in Glencoe. Susie was a lifelong active member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake; she also worked closely with the Glencoe Sportsmen’s Club for a number of years.
Susie loved to cook and bake; it was rare for her to visit the neighbors without a plateful of baked goods and no one ever left her home feeling hungry. Susie and LeRoy loved going for drives around the countryside and spending time together. Susie was fun-loving, kind, compassionate, and generous; and always one to have a smile on her face. She will be missed by all who knew her; she left a lasting impression on most people she came across. Susie greatly cherished the time she spent with her family and with her friends.
Susie passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024, in Silver Lake, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 10 days. Blessed be her memory.

Thoughts are with the family in your mother’s passing. There will never be another. She would bring light into a dark room and create laughter. She also has the “look” that meant behave. She will be missed. Now LeRoy will get “the look”

Julie, Brian, Amanda, and families,
We are so sorry for your loss. Your mother was such a beautiful soul and wonderful neighbor! She never hesitated to help out when needed! All those bars she baked for us when we celebrated Mike’s retirement from milking cows! When Mike needed help for whatever reason on the farm she insisted on sending over LeRoy or Brian to assist. She was such a people person, and loved to talk. She will be missed. Rest in peace Susan.

Memories! I met Susie, LeRoy and Amanda through tours and music 20+ years ago. We had some fun times. After Susie moved to CC-SL, she always greeted me with “Hello, my friend” when I came to play music each week, and she’d often ask about her friend Marlene. Susie, whenever I play the “Midnight Waltz” I’ll think of you. God bless, my friend!

Julie, Brian, and Amanda,
Your Mother was the kindest, most caring soul with a gentle touch. She always made me feel so welcomed and taken care of when we “got” to play together that one afternoon a summer. She was always pulling for the children and what was the right thing to do.
May your Mother Rest In Peace.
