Theona “Toni” Shimitz

Obituary

Theona “Toni” Sophia (Auch) Shimitz was born on May 14, 1920, in Lesterville, South Dakota. She was the daughter of John and Pauline (Mehrer) Auch. Theona was baptized as an infant on July 27, 1920, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on July 28, 1935. She continued her education and graduated from a Beauty Academy in Watertown, South Dakota in 1948.

On November 3, 1948, Theona was united in marriage to Richard Shimitz, in Watertown, South Dakota. This marriage was blessed with four children, Ronald, James, Valerae and Theresa. Theona and Richard resided in several towns over the years, with their last move to Hutchinson. She was a loving, caring homemaker. Theona and Richard shared 62 years of marriage, before Richard passed on August 11, 2011.

Theona was a long time member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Christ the King and Burns Manor. She especially enjoyed being around family and friends and loved helping people, especially her children and grandchildren. She has blessed our lives many times over.

Theona was a giving person. She was caring, kind, compassionate and loved laughter. She loved the Lord and she let her light shine by giving to others. We know that she has gone home to heaven to be with our Heavenly Father and we will one day meet her there. She will be missed by many, and she will always be in our hearts. We rejoice, as she is not dead, but now walking with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Theona passed away Friday October 12, 2018, at the Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of  98 years.

                  Theresa Victorian, of Plymouth, MN;

Grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Jason, Tanya, Melissa, Michelle, Chad, Joshua and Breanna;

Great Grandchildren, Theona, Avery, Ivy, Ella, Samuel, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Kayla, Bailey, Christian, Adelynn;

Theona is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; Son-in-law, Tom Victorian; Parents, John and Pauline Auch; four Brothers; five Sisters.
