Timothy R. Sjogren

Obituary

Timothy “Tim” Russell Sjogren was born on August 27, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the son of Russell and Leona (Zimmerman) Sjogren. Tim was baptized as an infant. He received his education in California where he attended the Garden Grove High School.

Tim entered active military service in the United States Navy on January 19, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge on June 10, 1969, at TI, San Francisco, California, and achieved the rank of BTFR.

On January 23, 1970, Tim was united in marriage to Suzanne Iverson (Wendorff). This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Amy and Tara.

They lived in Lafayette; he worked on the railroad and then for Tri-State Grease and Tallow in New Ulm. The couple later divorced. Shortly after, he moved to Las Vegas, NV by his brothers where he did Masonry work for his family business until 1997. He then moved back to Lafayette to be with his daughters and worked on the pipeline and then for the Shaw Brothers until he retired.

Tim enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, construction work, and working in his yard and garden. He also enjoyed watching old western movies, collecting old toy cars, driving around on his “putt putt”, playing games in which his favorite was Solitaire, and messing around on his computer. He especially loved being with his family and having visitors.

Tim passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 77 years.
