Obituary
Verone Martha Witthus was born on January 7, 1937, in New Auburn, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Willard C. and Meta (Lemke) Frauendienst. Verone was baptized as an infant on January 31, 1937, and later confirmed into her faith as a youth on April 2, 1950, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. Verone received her education in Glencoe and graduated with the Glencoe High School Class of 1954.
On August 12, 1954, Verone was united in marriage to Earl Elmer Witthus at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. Verone and Earl resided in Glencoe. This marriage was blessed with five children, David, Gail, Randy, Rick, and Larry. Verone and Earl shared 42 years of marriage until Earl passed away on September 3, 1996.
Verone had a strong faith in the Lord. Verone and Earl set the foundation for their family’s faith and that faith was passed on to the next generations. Verone was an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years.
Verone was dedicated to her family, she always made sure Earl and her children had everything they needed. Verone was caring, humble, loving, and supportive. She rarely missed an activity her children were a part of, she was the glue and the foundation of the household.
Verone enjoyed spending time outdoors and tending to her very large gardens. She enjoyed her time in the kitchen; whether she was cooking, baking, or canning the vegetables she grew. Going for coffee and catching up with friends was something she looked forward to. Time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was what Verone cherished most.
On September 15, 2013, Verone moved to Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe. She passed away there on Saturday, November 25, 2023, with her family by her side, at the age of 86 years.

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I have fond memories of when we lived kitty corner from you on Baxter Avenue! Our moms drinking coffee together. Gail I remember riding in a convertible to kindergarten together. Most of all I remember your mom was a beautiful, kind woman and you were so blessed to have her as your mom.
Dave Stark says
Dave, Rick, Larry & Gail, you have my sincere condolences & sympathy on the passing of your mother. It’s always difficult to lose a family member but so soon after Randy’s passing and during the holiday season makes it harder to accept. You can take comfort knowing that Earl, Randy & Verone are reunited & are together again. May god give you the peace & strength to move forward without her.
