Viola Rannow, age 92, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016, 11:00 A.M., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M., at Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Thursday.
Obituary
Viola Malinda Lena (Stern) Rannow was born on May 8, 1923, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Robert and O’Della (Jenneke) Stern. Viola was baptized as an infant on May 20, 1923, by Rev. R. Zwintscher at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helen Township, Glencoe, Minnesota, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 21, 1937, by Rev. Alf. Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. She received her education in First Evangelical Lutheran Church parochial school in Glencoe, Minnesota.
On August 16, 1942, Viola was united in marriage to Herman A. Rannow by Rev. Alf. Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. Viola and Herman made their home on the family farm in rural Glencoe until 1984, when they moved to Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Judith, Bonita and Robert. Viola and Herman shared over 59 years of marriage until Herman passed away on September 10, 2001.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Viola worked side by side with Herman on the farm helping milk the cows, doing field work and tending a large garden. She also worked several years at Nature Fresh. Viola was an active member at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Viola was a hard worker and enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved to play cards and bingo, cook, bake, watch her son at tractor pulls and visit with others. She also enjoyed the last year at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care. Viola treasured the time spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
When Viola needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care on November 3, 2014. She passed away there on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 26 days. Blessed be her memory.

Bonita Schuette and her husband, Grant, of Brownton, MN,
Robert Rannow and his wife, Sandra, of Glencoe, MN;

Sisters-In-Law, Emaline Ehoff of Little Falls, MN,
Mathilda Rannow of Glencoe, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.
Viola is preceded in death by her Parents, Robert and O’Della Stern; Husband, Herman A. Rannow; Sister, Luella Rannow; Brother, Lawrence Stern; Several Sisters-In-Law & Brothers-In-Law.
