Viola Quast, age 87, of Gaylord, passed away Friday, October 25, 2019, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 30, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 29, 2019, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Viola Delores Quast was born at home on September 28, 1932, in rural Gaylord, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Robert and Augusta (Pomplun) Otto. Viola was baptized as an infant on October 16, 1932, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1946, by Pastor Stahlke, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She received her education in Gaylord and was a graduate of the Gaylord High School Class of 1950.
On January 23, 1954, Viola was united in marriage to Milo Quast at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. After their marriage the couple farmed in Dryden Township. She was employed at Good Samaritan Society, Rosenberg Egg Plant (M.G. Waldbaum), This Old House, the canning factory, Fingerhut and others, retiring in 2004. She always helped Milo on the farm. Viola and Milo were blessed with four children and they shared 63 years of marriage, before Milo passed away on January 30, 2017.
Viola was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville for many years, later attending Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She was active in the Ladies Mission Society.
Viola enjoyed going to parades, loved flowers, baking, cooking, gardening, and sewing. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Viola became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord and passed away there on Friday, October 25, 2019, at the age of 87 years. Blessed be her memory.

Viola was preceded in death by her Parents, Robert and Augusta Otto; Husband, Milo Quast; Siblings, Elmer (Irmgard) Otto, Harold (Eleanor) Otto; Clarence Otto; Granddaughter, Tanya Draeger; Sister-in-law, Dorothy Otto.
