Virginia “Ginger” Yerks, age 78, of Hutchinson passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Hutchinson.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 15, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in the church cemetery.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. and Friday, April 15, 2016, from 8:00-11:00 A.M. all at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Obituary
Virginia “Ginger” Faye Yerks was born on August 10, 1937, in Olivia, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Harlan and Bessie (Jakes) Schiebel. Ginger was baptized as an infant on September 12, 1937, at the First Methodist Church in Hector, Minnesota and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at the Methodist Church in Hutchinson. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith as an adult on April 11, 1954, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Ginger received her elementary education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1955.
On July 3, 1955, Ginger was united in marriage to Orlin Yerks at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Kathy and Laurie. Ginger and Orlin resided in Hutchinson. They shared 57 years of marriage, until Orlin passed away on March 15, 2013.
In addition to being a loving mother and homemaker, Ginger held employment as a receptionist for Dr. Blackwell in Hutchinson, and later as “The Hallmark Lady” at Snyder Drug and Hutch Drug. She then worked at Hutchinson Technology Incorporated, Parties Plus, and as a Pharmacy Tech for The Medicine Shoppe in Hutchinson. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a member of Dorcas and sang in the church choir.
Ginger enjoyed spending time at the Daly cabin on Man Lake in Hackensack, Minnesota and fishing. She was very sociable and loved get- togethers. Ginger organized many of her high school class reunions. She also enjoyed working on craft projects and tending to her flower gardens and listening to music. Ginger loved taking care of others. She was always ready to lend a helping hand.
When Ginger needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Prairie Senior Cottages in Hutchinson, Minnesota in February of 2013. She passed away there on Monday, April 11, 2016, at the age of 78 years.

Sisters, Marie Andres and her husband, Jerome of Delano, MN,
Judy Schiebel of Chariton, IA;

Ginger is preceded in death by her Parents, Harlan and Bessie Schiebel; Step-Mother, Opal Schiebel Pessek; Husband, Orlin Yerks; Sisters, Ella Werner, Betty Johnson and her husband, Myron; Sisters -In-Law, Lois Mae Yerks, Elsie Garner and her husband, William, Edna Roulet and her husband, Merrill, Eileen Torry and her husband, Obie; Brother-In-Law, Arnold Yerks.
