Virginia “Ginny” Madsen

Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” May Madsen   was born on June 29, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Floyd and Hazel (Papke) Snyder. Ginny was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Minneapolis, and was a graduate of the Washburn High School Class of 1952. She furthered her education at the University of Minnesota.

In May 1958, Ginny was united in marriage to Howard Madsen at Bethlehem Lutheran in Minneapolis. This marriage was blessed with two children, Mike and Andrea. Ginny and Howard resided in Minneapolis. She loved being a mother, wife and homemaker. They shared 59 years of marriage together.

Ginny worked at 3M for a few years, until she was needed at home as a homemaker.

Ginny enjoyed living on Lake Stella, fishing, travelling, gardening, and attending her children’s activities. She was an excellent cook and her grandchildren loved her “famous” stuffed noodles.  She also enjoyed mining for opals and sapphires.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends.  She had a special place in her heart for her great grandson Riley.

Ginny passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, at the age of 83 years.

“My Sweetie”, “Mother May” The generous loving woman always concerned about the wellbeing of others. Will be dearly missed and loved forever. “She’ll fly with the Hummingbirds.”

Husband, Howard Madsen of Hutchinson, MN;
Children, Andrea Madsen of Elk River, MN, and
                Michael Madsen of Hutchinson, MN;
Grandchildren, Scott, and Eric Usher;
Great-Grandchildren, Riley Berndt;
Many other relatives and friends.

Ginny is preceded in death by her Parents, Floyd and Hazel Snyder.
