William “Bill” Genz

Obituary

William “Bill” Herman Genz was born on March 6, 1952, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Elmer and Mavis (Wilhelm) Genz. Bill was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth.  He received his education in North Dakota, and received his GED later.  Bill furthered his education at Hutchinson Technical College (Ridgewater College) for welding.

Bill entered active military service in the United States Army on January 31, 1975, in Minneapolis, Minnesota and served his country during the Vietnam War as an Artillery Surveyor. He received an Honorable Discharge on January 24, 1977, at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and achieved the rank of E-4.

Bill was married to Marjorie Ehrke in 1979. They were blessed with three children, Darla, Darci, and Darrin. Bill resided in North Dakota, and later moved to Bismarck Township, Sibley County, Minnesota.

Bill was employed at Delta Fabricating in Glencoe.  He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Fernando. He was also a member of the Brownton Bruins Baseball organization.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to music, and announcing baseball games. He also enjoyed being with his three cats, Mikey, Ruby, and Tuesday. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Bill passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his home in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, Winthrop, Minnesota, at the age of 66 years.

Bill would be saying to all of you right now, “As You Were”.  Blessed be his memory.

               Dawn Wickenhauser and her husband, Greg,
               Alan Genz and his wife, Dawn,
               David Genz and his wife, Heather,
               Kathy Servaty;
Many other relatives and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his Parents, Elmer and Mavis Genz; and Granddaughter, Ramsie Plevell.
