Wilna A. Ahlbrecht

Obituary

Wilna Anna Pauline Ahlbrecht was born on November 9, 1917, in Preston Lake Township, Renville County, Minnesota, the daughter of August and Minnie (Woestehoff) Krumrey. She was baptized on December 2, 1917 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake, and was confirmed in her faith there as a youth. Wilna attended country school.

On September 18, 1936, Wilna was united in marriage to Erwin Ahlbrecht at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. Four children were born to this union: Lois, Lee, Sandra, and Dean. The couple made their home in Buffalo Lake, living in their first home their entire married life. They had shared 63 years of marriage when Erwin passed away on February 9, 2000. Wilna continued living in their home until 2003 when she moved to the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.

Wilna was employed as a Postal Clerk at the Buffalo Lake Post Office for 30 years. She retired on July 25, 1980. A lifetime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, she had served as the financial secretary, and as a Sunday School teacher for 20 years. She was active and had served as an officer with the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Women.

Wilna enjoyed quilting, both at church and at home. A seamstress, her specialty was Baptismal dresses. Wilna had fun participating in the Kitchen Band. She was a great bowler, dedicated to her team and excited about her 200+ games. She equally enjoyed golfing and participating in the golf league. Wilna was a loving wife, Mom, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.

Early Monday morning, May 30, 2016, Wilna passed away at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center, having reached the age of 98 years. Blessed be her memory.

Wilna is survived by her:

Children: Lois Kienitz and her husband Gary of Apple Valley,
            Lee Ahlbrecht and his wife Ruth Ann of Bemidji,
            Sandra Scott and her husband Dennis of Eden Prairie, and
            Dean Ahlbrecht and his wife Kathy of Hector;

13 Grandchildren; 25 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren;

Sister-in-law, Eleanor Ahlbrecht of Glencoe;

Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Wilna was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Erwin, infant Great-Grandchild Chad Robert Koebnick, Brothers, Myron Krumrey and his wife Francis, and Arvid Krumrey and his wife Ruth, and by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
